When I first moved to New Orleans, I discovered the yoga studio on my street offered Kundalini. I was ecstatic. I did a beginner Kundalini series in Austin before I left, and was obsessed with the practice. I will never forget walking to my car after a class and feeling like I was floating above the ground. I had to sit in my car for 10 minutes to come down off of the high. The gong is magickal.

I had the pleasure of taking a few Kundalini classes in New Orleans with a visiting teacher, who remarkably was from the Austin studio I frequented (I had a lot of synchronicities in New Orleans), but finding a weekly offering so close to my home was a gift from Vishnu. I practically skipped down the street on the way to my first Saturday 5:00 PM Kundalini class with Navjeet.

The class was small, Kundalini is still a mystery to many. Navjeet introduced the day’s practice, “Self-Animosity,” just then I felt a little tickle in my belly. Let the chanting, breathing, and naval gazing begin.
